Final judging for the Royal Palm Literary Award competition.

RPLA_SemiFinalist_BadgeI received permission from Jill Yamnitz RPLA Entry Coordinator to post the  email she sent me on this blog.

This should give you a good idea of how the competition is judged and what comes next. Thank you Jill.

Hi John,

Congratulations! Your entry, People Behaving Badly: A Collection of Short Mystery Stories, a book-length general genre, is a semi-finalist for the 2015 Royal Palm Literary Award competition! This means the first 30 pages of your entry has been reviewed by two judges and earned a combined score of 80 points or more out of a possible 100.

What comes next? Your entry will go to a final judge, who will read the entire book. The score of this judge will be doubled and added to the previous two scores.  If this combined score is 160 or more points, your entry will be a finalist.

We will inform you either way. Meanwhile, please accept our congratulations on becoming a semi-finalist. Attached is the 2015 RPLA electronic semi-finalist badge. Please feel free to use it on your website and in your email signature line and to post it to social media. Let everyone know of your achievement!

Hearty and sincere congratulations from all the RPLA team. We’re happy for your success. Hope to see you at the conference!

Jill Yamnitz
