After reading several articles by self-proclaimed book marketing experts encouraging indie authors to take advantage of allowing readers to ‘preorder’ their upcoming releases, I thought, why not? I never tried that before, what have I got to lose!
The point of the exercise is to build interest and stimulate sales even before the eBook is released.
Well, twenty days after making my eBook A Place of Darkness and Other Stories available for preorder on Amazon, I’m regretting the decision.
After months of writing, rewriting, formatting, creating a final product that I can feel proud of and promoting the heck out of it on social media— presales have been underwhelming, to say the least!
Thus is the glamorous life of an independent author. Sigh!
